Research Resources

  • Vanderbilt University offers comprehensive services to support scholars and enhance the quality and efficiency of their research. Most resources are available at no cost or very minimal cost to Vanderbilt students.
  • Biostatistics Clinics are a free service staffed by the Department of Biostatistics for those who have methodological questions about their research projects or about published articles.
  • CITI Training
  • CRC Research Skills Workshop Series covers basic instruction and practical advice on commonly encountered clinical research topics. Weekly sessions are typically demonstration-oriented and provide an informal setting to learn new skills. Workshops are held each Friday from 9:00 am to 10:00 am in the CRC Conference Room (Medical Center North S2422 A&B). No registration is required.
  • DataMethods.org is a moderated site where statisticians, epidemiologists, informaticists, machine learning practitioners, and other research methodologists communicate with themselves and with clinical, translational, and health services researchers to discuss issues related to data: research methods, quantitative methods, study design, measurement, statistical analysis, interpretation of data and statistical results, clinical trials, journal articles, statistical graphics, causal inference, medical decision making, etc.
  • Edge for Scholars is a space for candid discussions about life in academics. Advice and information on academic writing, presentations, networking at conferences, funding, grant reviews, managing/protecting your time, and other topics.
  • Human Research Protection Program / IRB supports the work of the IRB and provides HRPP oversight.
  • Poster Printing service is available to students and researchers affiliated with the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
  • Research Support Services Bookshelf is a collection of books and reference materials available to all research staff, faculty, and students who work in research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
  • Rural Health Research Gateway Webinars
  • The Science of Scientific Writing is an article written by George Gopen and Judith Swan. It was originally published in the November-December 1990 issue of American Scientist. It is considered recommended reading for all students in the Vanderbilt MPH Program.
  • SPI-Hub: Scholarly Publishing Information Hub helps identify journals in which to publish your work and gives users a way to quickly and easily compare the quality, scholarly importance and editorial policies of some 24,000 journals.

  • VA Health Services Research and Development cyber-seminars
  • VUMC Research Resources for Health Services Research is a list of resources and presentations on topics related to health services research, applicable to most VUMC-affiliated students.
  • Writing Studio | Meet individually with trained consultants to talk about your writing project or areas of concern. Services are free and confidential for any member of Vanderbilt’s scholarly community.
