150 Years of Excellence

In 1875, Vanderbilt University awarded its very first degree—to a medical student. Over the past 150 years, VUSM has remained at the forefront of innovation and discovery, pioneering groundbreaking vaccine production methods, revolutionizing heart surgery techniques, and laying the foundation for Nobel Prize-winning research and nationally ranked degree programs.
